fPlastic materials are categorized into 7 types based on their composition and recyclability:
PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) – Used in water bottles, food packaging. Recycled into fabric, carpets.
HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) – Found in milk jugs, detergent bottles. Recycled into pipes, plastic lumber.
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) – Used in pipes, medical tubing. Hard to recycle; repurposed into flooring, cables.
LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) – Grocery bags, squeezable bottles. Recycled into trash bags, furniture.
PP (Polypropylene) – Yogurt containers, bottle caps. Recycled into auto parts, storage bins.
PS (Polystyrene) – Disposable cups, food trays. Limited recycling; turned into insulation.
Other (Mixed Plastics, e.g., PC, BPA) – Used in baby bottles, electronics. Hard to recycle; sometimes repurposed into composite materials.
